It was mandated by the government for individual utility companies to implement a program designed to promote energy efficiency. The purpose was to reduce consumption and eliminate the need to build additional power plants across the country. In order to fund these programs, an additional line item was added to each consumers utility bill, tagged “Energy Efficiency Program”. These funds are then dispersed in a series of different fashions, most of which require an application process.
When the program was implemented, the funding was far less than it is today. The program now has over $350 million avail to all customers within Com Ed territory, up from $50 million in 2009. ESN administers these applications through several different channels based on the customer type and size.
Each of these (5) carry extremely different incentives based on the market segment and type of work being completed. There are several variables and regulations that need to be followed to assure that projects are approved and funds are secured.
Bottom line is that we all pay into these programs and ESN has the ability to gain approval and maximize funding for their clients.
ESN has consistently been a leader in incentive processing since the inception of the program, working closely with Com Ed to maintain feedback from clients and contractors.
